Sonia Patel, chief technology officer at NHS England, is one of the final keynote speakers to be confirmed for Digital Health Rewired 2025, alongside international speaker Prof Stephanie Klein Nagelvoort Schuit.
Patel joins a keynote panel discussing the challenges of redesigning health systems at the event taking place on 18-19 March 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham.
Her work at national level focuses on strengthening digital foundations at frontline organisations, ensuring equitable tech access, and empowering local boards in digital transformation.
She has over 20 years’ experience leading tech-transformation and digital innovation, operating in some of the NHS’s most challenging environments.
Patel joins public sector transformation expert Mike Bracken, founding partner at Public Digital and Dr Umang Patel, chief clinical information officer (CCIO) at Microsoft UK, for the opening Rewired25 keynote on the Digital Transformation Stage.
Prof Stephanie Klein Nagelvoort Schuit is deputy chief executive at University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands and a global leader in AI adoption, having integrated AI and data science into everyday clinical practice.
She makes her Rewired debut as part of the keynote session: ‘Can AI save the NHS?’ on 18 March, joining Haris Shuaib, chief executive of Newton’s Tree and Dr Nicole Mather of IBM to explore how AI technologies can be safely introduced at scale for clinical care and support services.
The keynote will kick off two days of digital sessions tackling the key priorities in health and care as the NHS attempts to accelerate the shift from an analogue to digital service provider.
