Surrey and Sussex Healthcare goes live with imaging solution
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust went live with Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution to connect radiologists across large parts of south east England.
The trust became the sixth NHS organisation in the South East 2 Imaging Network to deploy Sectra’s solution when it was deployed in February 2025.
Trusts involved now share a single instance for radiology imaging, meaning that imaging such as x-rays, CT scans and MRIs are now instantaneously available to professionals across the six participating NHS trusts.
Cambridge University Hospitals integrates video service with EPR
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) integrated a clinical video management service with its Epic EPR system.
The vCreate service was deployed on 1 April 2025 for the management of clinical videos, images and supporting data.
It allows patients and clinicians to upload, share and store unlimited videos and images, with the aim of enabling rapid precision diagnostics and more efficient clinical decision-making.
West Middlesex University Hospital launches prescribing tool for paediatrics
West Middlesex University Hospital deployed a clinical decision support tool with the aim of reducing prescribing errors for children.
The Dosium Touchdose solution went live at the hospital on 2 April 2025 and clinicians are being encouraged to use it for all paediatric prescriptions in the emergency department and general medicine department.
The tool automatically calculates the right dosage of drugs for patients by taking information from the electronic health records, local guidelines, and a live integration with the British National Formulary for Children.
AI solution to detect lung cancer launches in south west England
Peninsula Imaging Network (PenRAD) launched an AI-powered chest CT service across four NHS trusts in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to help detect lung cancer quicker.
Qure.ai’s AI for chest CT (qCT) technology was deployed across five imaging sites under PenRAD in January and February 2025 to assist radiologists with the early detection and monitoring of lung nodules, which can indicate lung cancer.
The AI service is processing around 1,200 chest CT scans from patients each week across Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, and University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.
Children’s Health Ireland signs five-year deal with Sectra
Children’s Health Ireland has signed a five-year contract with medical imaging and cyber security company Sectra.
A deal was signed in January 2025 following a four-month procurement, with the aim of saving healthcare teams time accessing diagnostic imaging and reports.
The technology provided will be deployed at the new children’s hospital in Dublin, which is currently under construction, and will provide care for children and young people who require specialised and complex care.
