Two Shropshire trusts go live with Access Intelligent Care Platform
Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) and Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust have gone live with the Access Intelligent Care Platform (AICP).
Developed by Access Health, Support and Care (HSC), the digital solution went live in May 2025, with the aim of providing frontline teams with faster access to the information they need in order to deliver more connected, personalised care.
The AICP brings together data from multiple clinical systems, including separate instances of the Access Rio electronic patient record (EPR), in a single dashboard.
It offers real-time alerts, highlights key risks and gaps in care, and provides a fuller view of a person’s health and care journey across community and mental health services.
Jonathan Davies, chief information officer at Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, said: “By adopting this technology we can see huge potential in improving the breadth and depth of digital clinical information available to community staff at the point of care, strengthening our strategic priorities for digital excellence across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
“It’s about making the right information available to the right people, at the right time, and in the right place.”
The trusts who regularly share care for the same individuals will each implement AICP independently, but the platform will support closer digital collaboration by enabling clinicians to see critical information that may previously have sat in separate, inaccessible systems.
In the first phase, AICP will support read-only access across systems, giving clinicians a single, clear view of key data points such as medications, assessments and risks.
Later development phases will include secure messaging and alerting functionality, which will further improve communication and coordination between services.
The rollout of AICP also supports the trusts’ broader ambitions in population health management, data quality, and system-wide integration.

Access Group’s Rio EPR has now been adopted by organisations, including Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, and Somerset County Council, the first local authority in England to deploy an EPR.
